History
The discovery of the first adaptogen occurred in 1947. It came out of the work of Dr. Nicolai Lazerev, who in 1962 coined the term “adaptogen”. Continuing the research this, Dr. Israel Brekhman did extensive studies on Ginseng and other adapatogens. He and his team studied over 189 plants during a period of time spanning more than 45 years. Their research found only a few herbs that could be classified as adapatogenic. Brekhman demonstrated many of the special benefits of his discoveries in one of the most massive sustained and successful programs of human testing in recorded scientific history. Their efforts generated more than 3,000 clinical trials. He worked with 60,000 truck drivers, 655 flight crews, athletes, cosmonauts just to name a few. The combination of research, clinical trials and published studies and reports represent an estimated 1 billion dollar investment by the Soviet Union.
Qualifications
An adaptogen herb is nether neither a stimulant nor a steroid. Adaptogens help the body “adapt” to physical and psychological crisis and changes. According to Mikael Wahlstrom (in his book, Adaptogens), “Adaptogens are unique among nutrients…they correct disorders by instructing the body to do so…Adaptogens are the greatest weapon against the modern scourge of stress”.
- It is absolutely safe and non-toxic. An adaptogen must be innocuous and cause minimal disorders in the physiological function of the organism.
- It increases the body’s nonspecific resistance to internal and external stimuli. The action of an adaptogen should be non-specific; that is, it should increase resistance to the adverse influences of a wide range of factors of a physical, chemical and biological nature.
- It brings any disfunctioning body system back into balance. An adaptogen should possess normalizing action irrespective of the direction of previous pathological changes.
Dr. Tabachnick has dedicated more than 30 years to his work as a coach for eleite athletes and as a leading sport scientist. His main responsibility has been to implement scientific discoveries in physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and nutrition into the training programs of top-level athletes – specifically for the Soviet National Olympic Team.
Dr. Tabachnik immigrated to the US in 1990 where he established himself as a sport expert by consulting with professional teams such as the Denver Broncos, Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls. Likewise, he has trained numerous elite professional and collegiate athletes.
While in Russia, Dr. Tabachnik published more than 150 articles and books on enhancing sports performance. For over 40 years Dr. Tobachnik has worked to create the prefect formula for endurance athletes – ADX7. ADX7 helped take the 1988 Russian Olympic team to 55 gold medals. They have since refined the formula exclusively for Trigenix™.
